Hailing from my hometown, the Alta Ski Patrol is an iconic group of hardworking individuals well respected across western ski towns. When asked to design their annual Groundhog Day clothing apparel, there really was no messing around - get it done and do it right.


Taking cues from skiing’s never-ending progression, the following designs aim beyond gift-shop collectables and strive for streetwear recognition.



35TH ANNUAL GROUNDHOG DAY





Designed as a tongue-in-cheek joke surrounding Alta’s “skiers only” policy, the design creates a unique portrait of Alta by juxtaposing the resort’s iconic backdrop with modern day winter athletes (both skiers and boarders alike).


One year later, I was informed that this was the highest grossing design in the history of the patrol's Groundhog Day celebration. Woot woot!

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? Nah, just a ski area with plenty of weirdness and rarity to go around. This is how king groundhog came to be the patrol’s 34th Groundhog Day design.​
